Engagement Photo Sessions
The first place to start when planning your wedding photography is an engagement session. A good engagement
photo session has many advantages none of which is more important than it is the best time to gain report
with your wedding photographer prior to the big day. Typical engagement photo sessions last an hour
or two and are photographed in a casual setting such as a local park or beach. Engagement photo sessions
are a great place to capture images of the upcoming bride and groom in their most comfortable cloths
and surroundings just having fun.
We recommend wearing solid colored pants / shorts / shirts for the photography as solid colors are always
more dramatic and flexible when photographing in different locations with different backgrounds. Please
be certain to bring at least three changes of clothing to your engagement photo session as our photographer
can work with you in selected the best clothing for the surroundings.
Another way to be certain your engagement photo session is the best it can be is to carefully select
the best time for the session. Since most engagement photo shoots are in an outdoor setting, picking
the time of the day for the most flattering sunlight must be an important consideration. Photography
in harsh afternoon sun can lead to squinting eyes and shadows in eyes. The best outdoor photo shoots
are always done in what photographers call the “golden hour”. The Golden Hour either the first hour
after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. At those hours, the sun creates soft and diffused golden
light as it passes through the atmosphere helping to create images which are well lit and possess vibrant
colors.
Often your favorite engagement session image is printed and framed for use at the wedding reception
on an easel next to the guest sign in book. Our clients can select from a variety of print sizes and
frame options as we offer full framing and matting services when requested.
